Gaastra is a Dutch brand, a manufacturer of men's, women's and children's clothing and footwear. The company produces high-tech clothing for outdoor activities, tourism and yachting. The brand is a part of McGregor Fashion Group. The history of Gaastra brand began in 1897 in Holland as a company producing sea equipment and sails for yachts. The founder of the company, Douwe Gaastra, a professional yachtsman, later sold the company.
In 2000 the brand became part of the McGregor Fashion Group.
In 2001 Gaastra was one of the first brands to enter the kitesurfing market and has been the market leader ever since.
In 2005 Gaastra sponsored the Les Voiles de St. Tropez regattas in Europe and in 2009 supported the K-Challenge race.
