In 1825, James Clarke worked in his brother's tannery in Somerset. While processing sheep skins, there was a lot of unused raw materials, and one day the craftsman comes up with a brilliant idea: "Slippers!» It wasn't long before the Clarke brothers' hand-made Slippers made a splash on the British market.
By 1842 shoe sales were already 1,000 pairs per month. In 1863 management of the business passed into the hands of James ' son, William. He opened factories, modernized production, and purchased modern Singer equipment. William decided to produce shoes that take into account the anatomy of the foot and repeat its natural lines. That was the moment when Clarks established itself as the manufacturer of the most comfortable shoes in the world.
At the beginning of the XX century, the wife of Jones Clark - Alice Clark became the leader of the company. Developing the modern business, Alice offers to produce high-heeled shoes. Soon every girl in the UK wanted to buy Clarks shoes. Growing worldwide demand for Clarks shoes has given a boost to the brand's production outside of England.
A large number of factories have been built for Clarks since 1990. Clarks auditors always carefully monitor compliance with technical production processes and the quality of shoes produced. In 2013 SOHO Fashion signed a contract with Clarks with the right of exclusive distribution of the brand in Russia and Belarus, and the AW 2014 season began the newest history of the Clarks brand in Russia.
